The Embassy Wins 2010 Randwick City Stakes

March 15th, 2010

Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse drew some of the nation’s top horses to compete in its Randwick Guineas Day, and saw a fantastic Group 3 Randwick City Stakes (2000m) kick off the day’s proceedings.

Trainer Chris Waller dominated the Group 3 race, with a one-two win by The Embassy, and Alexander Of Hales respectively.

The Embassy beat stablemate Alexander Of Hales by four lengths, after favourite for the race Voice Coach, had to be scratched due to an injury which will keep the gelding out for six months.

It seems Waller is now eyeing up the Listed Manion Cup (2400m) on the 27th of March at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, along with the Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) on the 24th of April at the Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Chris Waller dominated the Group 3 race, with a one-two win by The Embassy, and Alexander Of Hales.

Waller’s other starter, Warringah, finished last in the field of seven.

Rounding out the top three was Kevin Moses’ Deltona. The six-year-old gelding finished three-quarters of a length behind Alexander Of Hales.

Another favourite prior to the 2010 Randwick City Stakes was Spinney. Starting from the inside barrier, the Peter Snowden-trained gelding finished fourth.

Also taking place on Saturday at the Royal Randwick Racecourse was the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).
