Randwick City Stakes Odds

March 11th, 2010

The Royal Randwick Racecourse is gearing up to host one of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival’s top racedays on Saturday; the Randwick Guineas Day, which will consist of eight fantastic races.

Kicking off the day’s proceedings will be the Group 3 Randwick City Stakes (2000m), which will draw in horses at least three years old to compete over the staying distance of 2,000 metres for a share in the $125,000 prize money.

Currently topping the odds, by a margin, to win the Randwick City Stakes is Voice Coach at $3.40. The five-year-old gelding finished fifth in the Listed Rydges Parramatta Cup (2000m), with fellow Randwick City Stakes starter Deltona taking the win, and it seems the odds are relatively high in regards to his recent runs.

Currently topping the odds, by a margin, to win the Randwick City Stakes is Voice Coach at $3.40.

Deltona, trained by Kevin Moses, has relatively low odds at $5. The geldings last three starts have resulted in two wins and one second spot – and if he performs well on Saturday could provide a nice sum.

Spinney is close behind in the odds at $4.80, and is certainly one to keep an eye on. The odds seem a little long for the Peter Snowden-trained gelding, having won an 1800m handicap in February at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, and could provide a substantial payout.

Rounding out the nine-horse field’s odds is Saint Encosta at $34. While the young colt has not had any recent wins, the field itself is not unbeatably strong, and the John Thompson-trained horse could provide a nice payout to the daring punter.

Also taking place on Saturday at the Royal Randwick Racecourse will be the Group 1 Randwick Giuneas (1600m), the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).
