The Royal Randwick Racecourse will be host to this weekend’s bout of Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival proceedings, with the Randwick Guineas Day taking place, and one feature will be the Group 2 Randwick City Stakes (2000m).
This year the Randwick City Stakes has 11 nominations, and will be the third of eight races to take place, seeing horses compete under handicap conditions for a share in the $125,000 prize money.
This year the Randwick City Stakes has 11 nominations, and will be the third of eight races to take place.
Chris Waller has four nominations for the race in Alexander Of Hales, The Embassy, Voice Coach and Warringah, however none of them have performed well recently, and would need to pull out a strong run to succeed on Saturday.
Deltona, trained by Kevin Moses, has won two of his last three starts, all of which were over the staying distance and could be one to watch when it comes to the Randwick City Stakes.
Seven-year-old Spinney recently had a strong handicap win. The Peter Snowden-trained gelding proved himself over the longer distance at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in February, and may do the same again on Saturday.
Also taking place on Saturday at the Royal Randwick Racecourse will be the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) and the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (2000m).
